The history and use of the anti-castor yellow X in the Lüneburg and Wendland area (and possibly beyond). Is the yellow X related to the Niedersachsen emblem of horses’ heads? What types of materials is the yellow X made from – what materials are appropriated to make it? How is the X integrated into architecture? – for example, being made out of an existing architectural element. As a sign, how does the X mark a territory or a geography unexpectedly?
